We have finished the chapter 1!!! Yeah!!! But, what a long blog you told us to do, Mr. Manno!! That's too much!!!
Well, let’s talk about today’s topic. We all have read the song on page 17 and page 18. There are many words that I don’t know so I should search them to keep understanding this part.
First, the song is about the adventure. They go through misty mountains, by going dungeons and caverns. They have to go to Lonenly Mountain to get their home and their treasures back from the dragons. So they have to fight against the dragons. We learned that hobbits live in holes which are in the hills. They are not the holes we imaged, like dirty, dark, wet holes. They are very comfortable. But as we can know, dwarves live in mountains. In this song, dwarves adventure the mountain which is called Lonely Mountain, and there is misty and cold and deep and old. It sounds like much different with hobbits’ hole.
Actually, this song is not only about the adventure, but also about dwarves’ treasures. There are some phrases such as “While hammers fell like ringing bells” or “On silver necklaces they strung” or “” We can know from these that dwarves like to make things by their hands. They like brighten things such as jewels and gold.
This song tells us that their treasures are all taken by the dragons. They were pushed away from their own home. So I think the tone of this song should not be happy but should be a little sad. Think about this, who will be happy to be pushed away from home? No one!!! We listened to this song in movie version and it was quiet and sad.
