First is vocabulary, If we don’t know the grammar, we still can understand the meaning of the sentences. But if we don’t know the words, we can’t understand. We can guess the meaning of words from reading the whole sentences, and it’s a very good way to study English. But there are too many words that I don’t know. So I think I should study very hard to understand and remember the vocabularies.
Second is image the feeling of the characters in the story. Think about the reason why the character took the action. For example, we thought about why did Gandalf write a sign on Bilbo’s door, and why didn’t Bilbo say go away to the dwarves. I couldn’t understand the story very well at first, but after we talked about these, I could understand better. I also became fond of this story. So I think this is one of the most important things of reading books---books written in any languages.
I have a DVD of “The Hobbit”, but I haven’t watched it yet because it sounds different with the book and not as well as the book. I maybe watch it after learning this book.
